Climate change and obesity: A global analysis

Climate change and obesity are two major concerns for policy makers globally, but can climate be a driver of obesity? This is what our analysis tries to establish. To this purpose, we exploit inter-annual variations the Body Mass Index (BMI) children adults in 134 countries over 39 years, study extent changes air temperature precipitations affect obesity. Using panel data econometrics exploiting both within- cross-country BMI, uncovered robust U-shaped associationbetween BMI girls, boys women, failed detect any significant effect precipitations. Our also reveals that impact on particularly girls inclusion other determinants stressed by existing literature, such as GDP per capita, fertility, agriculutral productivity, suggesting mean directly associated with, may have an independent on, BMI.
